Vítor Vieira
Hi everyone! I’m an R&D engineer and physicist working out of northern Portugal. I like problems at the intersection of research and optimization: real-time computer vision, on-device AI/ML, physics simulations, with a lot of GPU work in Rust and C++ and a healthy dose of maths.
Lately most of my time goes to Cairn, a real-time 3D surface reconstruction tool that runs on Android and eventually on SOC systems, and Nerva, a tool that works out how a sample was made and gives you back the knob settings to help make new and interesting sounds.
The rest of the time I’m making music, woodworking, or staring longingly into the sea. Always after a better way to do things.
Selected work
Cairn
Real-time 3D surface reconstruction on Android and on-device drone. Gaussian surfels driven by monocular depth and sensor fusion. Built for projection mapping.
Rust * Vulkan * Gaussian splatting * Surfels * on-device

Reverse-engineers how a sound was made. Separates a track into stems, recovers the synth parameters behind them and allows for experimentation.
Rust * C++ * PyTorch * ONNX * audio ML
